U-brake :- also known as the 990 - style

- good traction
- if canvass thinning the lining move up and if not addressed can ruin even the tire rim
- popularly used in the early 1990 mountain bike
- now commonly found in Free Style BMX bike, because the shape and the cord does not protrude out, thereby reducing the risk of damage / injure riders in action
V- brake :- Shimano has trademarked and popularized the term v- brake
- connected to the frame with 2 bolts separate
- noodle ( 90 ° bent tube into which the cable ) and stir- ups ( a noodle attached ) must be made of strong material because if damaged brake failure could occur
