Tour de France hit by surprise on Tuesday, when the rider from Luxembourg, Frank Schleck, third overall standings last year, were excluded from the 2012 race is in progress, for failing a drug test.
Schleck the elder brother of the family - Andy won the Tour two years ago - riding for Team RadioShack-Nissan and was at number-12, nine minutes 45 seconds behind race leader Bradley Wiggins.
"After being told about the UCI Xipamide Frank Schleck in the urine examination on July 14, the team decided to pull Frank Schleck of the Tour de France," said a statement issued by RadioShack team-Nissan, told Reuters.
RadioShack said Schleck came voluntarily to the police station so that the hotel is visited by the team, although witnesses said some police officers and officials who do not use a uniform, on patrol around the building in Pau on Tuesday night.
Examination of drug use was held after the 13th stage on July 14 and substances found in the urine of Xipamide Schleck.
"With the Xipamide the team stated: It is not an existing product in the drugs used and the team Xipamide Schleck in urine samples is not clear to the team," a statement from RadioShack.
According to the regulation of the Board of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA): "the specific content of the examination of the urine samples and illicit substances, then the athlete will get two years of sanctions."
RadioShack is a team that supports the seven-time Tour champion Lance Armstrong, who along with team manager Johan Bruyneel, was involved in a doping investigation launched by the Council of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). Both have denied doing wrong.
Bad news during the second intermission was another blow in the Tour for Schleck, who climbed the podium last year in the past that earned her siblings Tour 2012, after the Spanish rider Alberto Contador crossed out of his yellow jersey because of doping involved.
Last year, riders from Russia, Alexandr Kolobnev, left the Tour in the same action but later cleared the federation.
At the first break tour last week, the French rider Remy On Gregorio was arrested at his team hotel in Bourg en Bresse and investigated because it has a kind of illegal drugs. He was later released and allegedly refused to do.
